Song of the Day (172): Must Be Santa – Bob Dylan

Song of the Day (172) - Must Be Santa by Bob Dylan

I could not resist even if many will run from the room. Let’s mix punk, klezmer and polka and see what we get. Some hear beauty, some feel torture.

When word leaked out that Dylan had recorded a Christmas album, critics and fans howled. He merely shrugged, “These songs are part of my life, just like folk songs. You have to play them straight too.”

Dylan may have been a good Jewish kid from up north in Minnesota, but like everyone else, when Christmas came, everyone heard and sang Christmas carols. Why can’t he love them too.

Check out the video with the music and a crazy house party.

By the way, all proceeds went to three charities feeding the displaced. “They get food straight to the people. No military organization, no bureaucracy, no governments to deal with.”
