Like others before him, Mark Germino heard Johnny Cash sing and that led him to write and sing his own songs. And like the mighty Elvis, he drove a truck while trying to break into the Nashville scene. He had a knack for lyrics both catchy and meaningful so others recorded his songs and he connived a few labels to let him put out his own sound.
He never made it big, but he made it enough to write and perform music all his life, which sounds like a good deal. Freedom means a man gets to live his life the way he deems right.
I can’t get enough of his music, which sounds deeply personal, though you can hear strains of Springsteen, John Prine, Phil Ochs and his hero Johnny Cash in the conversational style as he spins his stories with incisive lines.
This song of a tumultuous relationship full of anger and anguish, tenderness and joy; he’s singing for you and me.
